This is our journey through Denmark, part one. It rains all day for the first time since we left Etten-Leur on October 5th. We are now in Fuglslev, near Ebeltoft. In recent times in Denmark we have always traveled with nice, calm weather, despite the weather forecasts.

The city visits were interesting and we went to the different beaches and had a great time in the beautiful autumn forests.

The island of Rømø

After the border crossing with Germany we drive to Rømø, the southernmost Wadden Island of Denmark. We find a nice camper place near the southern tip of the island. The weather is excellent for the time of year, we can even sit outside in a t-shirt.

The beach is wide and you can drive on it by car, in our experience unique in Europe. The island looks very different from Germany or the Netherlands, with a very typical architectural style and beautiful unspoilt nature.

On the beach we meet Anja and Ehrhart from Flensburg, they are completely enthusiastic about our adventures and invite us for a nice dinner with them in the caravan. We enjoy telling our stories and they are insatiable with our experiences. We keep in touch is the promise.

Ribi

Reputedly the oldest Scandinavian city, Ribi, dates back to the time of the Vikings. We take a nice walk through the city center with the half-timbered houses and the cathedral.

Hylke Strand

A nice wild camping spot on the way to Aarhus was Hylke Strand, near Skanderborg.

Aarhus

In the city of Aarhus we spend the night at the camper place in the marina on the south side of the city.
We go to the city on foot and visit the Aros museum, which has changing exhibitions and installations and a limited permanent collection.

The exhibition This is not Africa naturally appeals to us.

But we also come across this imposing textile artwork time and again in the central hall and it appeals to us more and more.

The work Welcome moves us, especially thanks to the accompanying description.

But the most impressive is Boy by the Australian artist Ron Mueck. The size of this artwork is huge and the details are meticulous.

In short, the Aros museum is recommended.

On the way back to the camper place we walk through the beautiful city. Rain threatens, so we keep it short.

Fuglslev – Ebeltoft

From Gudrun, a loyal follower of our travels and a network colleague of Sonja, we received the offer to stay in her holiday home in Fuglslev. We gladly accepted that.

The area is beautiful, autumn forests, beautiful walking and cycling paths and the town of Ebeltoft is well worth a visit.
